Stand up for what you believe in, even if it goes against the current status quo.

So I’m sitting in the library, taking a break from my French homework, messing around on Facebook, and I come across this page that a few of my friends “liked.” More specifically, it was the “Stop the GOP from Redefining Rape” page. Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me and I clicked on the page to see what it was about. And as I’m sure you can guess, it was a hate page against the GOP and against the Pro-Life movement. It was pretty one-sided: Pro-choice sided. Minimal information, except for what aided their argument.

So I decided to do a little bit of digging…

It turns out that to an extend the GOP is trying to redefine rape. But, what wasn’t mentioned in the FB page, is that they are attempting to redefine the types of rape that are justifiable for a federally funded abortion. From what I can perceive from a few of the news sites I have looked on, the Republicans only want “forcible” rape and incest to be the exception to an abortion.

So I’m thinking about this. Reading different news pages, different articles. Most of them from liberal websites, liberal newspapers. I even read an article on Yahoo. And I’m wondering to myself how we can define when it is morally “right” to receive an abortion.

Personally, I don’t think that tax payers/the government should EVER pay for an abortion. Why do I, as a Pro-Lifer, why do my parents and grandparents, as Pro-Lifers, have to pay for a woman to get an abortion when they believe it is morally wrong? If we believe that abortion is murder, which it is, then why are we allowing our government to perform and provided services for these murderous acts?

While I think the GOP has good intentions, I feel like they might be going about it in the wrong way. They should be proposing bills that restrict ALL federally funded abortions. They should be standing up for the people who are supporting them, who are voting for them! Abortion should be a cut and dry issue. The government should not condone it. And they certainly should not be using tax payer’s money to fund it.

Our society today is so worried about the number of trees that are being cut down, the amount of paper we use a day, the gases are car emit, electric car technology, our ozone layers, global warming (or as it is now referred to… climate change), etc. But we are unconcerned about the lives of the unborn? Unfortunately, a lot of us, including our political leaders, don’t have the guts to say ABORTION IS MURDER, and we won’t allow our government to condone it. We need to take a stance here people! We need to start pressuring our leaders to take a stance too. A stance to protect EVERY HUMAN LIFE. We need to start standing up for the rights of ALL humans.

If you look up any Pro-Life vs. Pro-Choice poll, it is split pretty evenly between the two groups. So why is the government ignoring half of the country that wants to defend human life? It’s like they are snubbing their noses at us. Oh, you don’t want your tax money helping women get abortions? Too bad because the other half of the country does. This doesn’t make sense to me. If you are Pro-Life, you are anti-women’s rights. Men are misogynistic. You’re narrow-minded. These misconceptions are horribly degrading to the good people in our country. Anyone who says these things about Pro-Lifers is narrow-minded, because they fail to see the dignity in every human life. They fail to see how precious every life is. They fail to see the wonder in humanity, the good in humanity.

I hope you will all consider your stance on the protection of all humans.

“Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide.”
~ Ronald Reagan – Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation

Keep thinking-valid points. If people who are pro-choice claim that abortion protects women’s rights, what about the female babies in the womb? Great job! I am proud of you!

    • Fairy Godmother,
I like this point. I think that it is very valid. Perhaps they would argue that if it is women who are allowed to chose whether they want an abortion then it is not sexism? Or it is not discrimination against females? Could it also be argued that it might be sexism against men if the women abort a male child? Much to think about. =)
