A few days ago, NBC televised the US Open. They did a little montage of some students saying the Pledge of Allegiance and photos of our armed forces. The slide show would have been beautiful, had NBC not decided to edit out “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance.
They later released an “apology”, saying, “Regrettably, a portion of the Pledge of Allegiance that was in that feature was edited out. It was not done to upset anyone and we’d like to apologize to those of you who were offended by it.”
A portion of the Pledge, huh? From the comments I saw on Fox news and some tweets I saw also, everyone was offended that they left out God. And they did it in such a matter that made it quite obvious it had been omitted. If you haven’t seen it, I advise you to watch it. I’ll include the video at the end.
I know many people will argue with me on this, but our country was built on Christian principles and on God. We are a nation under God. We will always be a nation under God, despite the efforts of significant news networks and our political leaders to change that.
We are a nation that understands that everyone has freedom of religion. And we respect people (for the most part), no matter if they are Christian or Jewish or Hindu or Muslim. But while we can appreciate people despite their differences, we cannot forget what this great country was built on: GOD.
That is something Obama cannot change, no matter how hard he tries. That is something NBC cannot change no matter how hard they try.
This is something we should all never forget.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation UNDER GOD, indivisible, with liberty and justice for ALL.
May God bless us all and watch over this great country.
